No it’s not safe to revert to 0.5.4 but we have resolved the USB detection issues in the latest 1.0.2 image: http://download.umbrel.com/release/1.0.2/umbrelos-pi4.img.zip
I spoke too soon. Got hit by the reboot bug right after this and had to install the new image. the layout of the SD card is totally different now - 3 partitions system-a, CONFIG and data. I cannot find a config.txt file anywhere so far. @lukechilds can you help with this issue to get our TBM LCD back? Where can we add dtparam=spi=on paramater?
AND I AM BACK IN BUSINESS on the TBM LCD (kinda) @UsefulTowel
Steps are:
- Install Umbrel 1.01 via the new image
- fix the python env issue ahead of installing TBM LCD using this link
- fix adding the hardware interface parameter issue by first running (via ssh):
mount -v | grep “^/” | awk ‘{print "\nPartition identifier: " $1 "\n Mountpoint: " $3}’
#this is to identify the partition and mountpoint for boot next run this using the info from the command above.
sudo mount -o remount,rw /partition/identifier /mount/point
#this mounts /boot as writable
now modify /boot/config.txt to include “dtparam=spi=on” without the quotes.
Now install TBM LCD in /home following the normal steps as per this link:
Bitcoin Machine LCD (v 0.5) - Run your Bitcoin and Lightning Node
finally reboot via the Umbrel OS settings panel.
Voila - You now have Date/Time and storage information on your LCD along with the Umbrel logo. Unfortunately, no bitcoin information but it is better than a white screen of nothingness until there is a real fix. Obviously do this at your own risk - they made the boot dir r/o for a reason and who knows what else this might break.
Is there any tutorial in this forum on how to upgrade SSD from 1TB to 2TB?
Previous versions allowed flashing directly to the ssd and booting worked without the mSD card. This time it doesn’t seem to be working, which seems to be a very regrettable step backwards.
Hey @Redin, sorry for any confusion! Just wanted to confirm that none of the previous umbrelOS versions supported NVMe. It’s our top-priority to bring NVMe support to the next major umbrelOS release.
I never mentioned NVME for the example cited. I only mentioned SSD devices. Long before NVMEs were in widespread use and after Raspberry Pi released the firmware for SSD booting, I could always run Umbrel this way.
Oh sorry @Redin, I misunderstood your comment. Interesting, we never officially supported booting from the SSD. But it may have worked on 0.5 or prior — you could be right. We’ll look into testing it over the next few weeks and add support for it.
Thank you for your understanding.
There was also another situation that was worth Umbrel helping to complete. Storing the blockchain on a separate disk was not supported either, but it was always possible by changing the file (umbel/app-data/bitcoin/exports.sh) in the APP_BITCOIN_DATA_DIR line.
Do you think you’ll be able to bring this new feature in natively?
Is there a new update v1.0.3? The instructions in the first message changed to a new updated version, 1.0.3 instead of 1.0.2.
I now have the same issue…-___- Goodness. Im glad i didnt flash the same sd…going back until this is fixed.
update
I lied. Everything came up with a reset. lol.
Hi everyone
I just updated to umbrelOS 1.0 my Raspberry Pi4 and it all seemed fine at first but all my apps are “Not running”. I already tried several times rebooting via SSH, reflashing, setting down and restarting and nothing. apps are not responding. it seems there are still a few issues with the latests version. I’m regretting having updating the OS.
Is there any way we can download the previous version at least for now? any link for that?
Thanks
I’m using this new release but still my apps are showing “Not running”.
@Tenoch24 are you able to try installing an app. And then after go to Settings > Troubleshoot > umbrelOS logs
and then download the log file and upload it here.
Also are you familiar with SSH? It would be great to run through some debug commands with you if so after I’ve taken a look at your logs. Or if not I can walk you through it step by step if you let me know if your computer is Mac, Windows or Linux.
I just followed these steps and looks like I am back up again.
Thank You
Thanks, Just tried installing another app. (Nostrs Relay, for the sake of the trial). this one shown “Not running” momentarily but then it diappeared from the dashboard. Long story short, im not able to install apps.
I’ve done some basic SSH. Im using MacOs.
I have the same problem as @Tenoch24
All 3 of my apps are currently not running. When I tried to install a new app it says, installing for one second, not running and then install again.
Basically I am unable to start / delete / install new apps.
I’ll try to flash 1.02 now and report back.
This is shown in the log:

I checked my SD card and there were several partitions on it which removed / merged and the apps are starting now @Tenoch24 maybe something you could check too?
its not working.
its also not accepting my password or moneyprintergobrrr
I have tried reflashing numerous times, how do i get a clean install of umbrel???
Try “umbrel”
