Hi i am fairly new to all this actually only had umbrel installed for a few hours. Hoping to run my own mining pool with a few nerdminers and a couple of bitaxe however I want to mine something other than BitCoin have been looking at Hypercoin however I can not find a way to install this on to my system. I followed Retro Mike’s tutorial and managed to get digibyte working however this was only because of the hand holding walk through I wondered if anyone has successfully got HyperCoin on their pool and if so would they be willing to help out a complete Noob thanks in advance for any help or info you can provide
Hey, welcome! I went down this rabbit hole abit and the short answer is that there isn’t really a ready-made Hypercoin setup for Umbrel yet.
Hypercoin uses SHA-256, so your Bitaxes should be able to mine it as long as the pool supports a normal Stratum connection and accepts lower-hashrate miners. The easiest place to start would probaby be one of the existing HRC pools listed here:
You’d put the pool address/port into AxeOS and use your HRC wallet address as the username, following whatever instructions that pool gives. You dont actually need Umbrel for that part.
The NerdMiners are a different story. The stock NerdMiner v2 project is Bitcoin-only, and their hashrate is also too low for a lot of regular pools to accept, so I’d test with one Bitaxe first.
Running your own HRC pool on Umbrel is possible in theory, but its not as simple as changing DigiByte to Hypercoin in Retro Mike’s guide. You’d need a synced Hypercoin Core node, Miningcore, and a custom HRC coin/config template. I couldn’t find a complete working Umbrel package or an HRC template included with Miningcore.
I’d ask in the Hypercoin Discord if they can share the config used by one of their existing Miningcore pools. If someone has that, it should be much easier to work backwards into an Umbrel setup instead of guessing at all the settings.
Thank you I will give that a try
