Hi, I updated my Raspberry Pi 4 to UmbrelOS 1.4. Noticed that the File Browser app and Samba share were missing everything, except for two folders that are now empty. Then found the new Files feature in the Umbrel app itself, but it is buggy and slow. Scrolling with the scroll bar also drags a glitchy selection box that doesn’t select right. Downloading a file opens a new tab that takes a while to actually start downloading. Tried restarting.
I would really rather use the established File Browser or Samba SMB share which work well already, but it seems this 1.4 update has moved everything to a different directory that has broken the existing file managers. Thank goodness apps like Jellyfin and Audiobookshelf still point to the current correct directory.
Maybe you could start by uninstalling the old Files app (Restart) and try the new Files feature to see how it goes.
On my nodes (RPIs and NUCs) it works fine.
Currently, I still cannot access my files. The old File Browser app and Samba share do not display my files, and the new Files feature doesn’t let me download any of my files. It gives me an error stating {"error":"forbidden"} when I try to download any file. My apps like Jellyfin can still access the files fine, though. Is there a fix for this?
Edit: Just found I can right-click (tap and hold on mobile) a file, and hit Download from there, which works. There are lots of strange bugs in this, like the Download button when clicking a file not working, and being unable to navigate up a folder. I really wish the old stable File Browser app still worked.
Indeed it has, thanks for the notification! So glad it works again.
I’m happy to test out the new Files feature, but wanted the old File Browser and Samba apps to work as a fallback while they iron out the bugs in the new feature. Thanks!
