Umbrel constantly decides to shut down after 24 hours or less

I am creating a post again since I did not receive help, my umbrel restarts every 24 hours (it does not restart, it turns off and the green light comes on on my raspberry pi) I already restarted it from 0, formatting the SD and the portable disk, without However, the shutdowns continue. My Node was at 50% (280GB) and when I turned it off and on again it went back to 37%
I don’t know what to do anymore, I had bitcoins on my Lightning node that I want to recover but I’m having a hard time installing the bitcoin node again because of the constant shutdowns it’s having, the power hasn’t gone out, the node doesn’t appear connected (check with AngryIP)

From the configurations there is 300GB in Bitcoin Node but in the app there are 270GB downloaded

I previously had my node 100% downloaded but one day what the title indicates happened, I had to unplug and plug back in and it required me to “reindex” and I did it, but nevertheless if it restarts every 24 hours it is impossible to do the reindex since it would go back to 0% every time (happened 5 times) until I decided to delete everything and try to download it again.

I am literally desperate, I am afraid that I have lost my money that I had in lightning node (not in channels, I only had bitcoin in my wallet)

It is quite frustrating since I spent 1 month downloading the bitcoin node 100% and now I have been having reinstallation problems for days, I no longer know what to do, I am having a very bad experience for now I want to install the node and withdraw my bitcoins and never return to use umbrel. I hope you can help me since before it DIDN’T turn off for DAYS! And I say days because it was on for more than 10 days without problems until one day the constant shutdowns began every 12-24 hours.

The last thing I saw was that I was going through block 595,000 or so and after I heard a noise like when Umbrel was turned off, I couldn’t see any more Umbrel connected to the network, I couldn’t access it with Putty in any way from umbrel.local or any IP related, it’s like it turns off BY ITSELF! Once you take out the cable and put it back in, it starts as if nothing had happened, but with the fact that the progress is deleted (not the downloaded GB) and it goes back much further back, which makes it further away from reinstalling every day. the bitcoin node. I hope you can help me, I’ve already tried restarting everything from scratch.

Need help. thanks.

Hi for your first question, have you noted down your seed phrase (we should be able to get it eitherway just dont uninstall the lightning app)? You can use this to restore your bitcoin in basically any wallet of your choosing (sparrow, blue wallet, etc)

Secondly, this issue could be a couple things, but first can i ask what SSD and enclosure are you using?

i try in Sparrow but say next error
image

and second, is HDD portable 1TB Toshiba

I was going 62% without having problems and now one appeared out of nowhere, my raspberry didn’t even turn off, the error just appeared.

It’s really disappointing, I decided to turn off the raspberry and not use Umbrel again since it doesn’t work.

Now it tells me I should Reindex again! The truth is, I was able to recover my wallet with Blue Wallet so my funds are safe. but my node does not want to download, what a shame, but I will uninstall Umbrel from my raspberry. IT IS NOT WORTH it to continue wasting my time.

I decided to remove Umbrel from my Raspberry pi 4 8gb since after several months of trying to install Bitcoin Node (I only had 1 opportunity to have the full node after several errors such as getting stuck in “Starting” and having problems with peers) decided that it is not worth using it, since it is a waste of time. It is easier to install Ubuntu and install Bitcoin Core ORIGINAL and the classic. The truth is, my experience was very bad, but very bad, being a novice user, I had to do many difficult things from Putty, the constant errors that made my node ask me to reindex to the constant meaningless shutdowns, the last of the errors I had today was that without having been turned off, the node decided to turn itself off and I knew this by reading the debug.log that was generated (which I had to monitor many times to know what was happening because it was not moving forward and not connecting with the peers) I had an “HTTP” problem DON’T RESPOND" which didn’t make sense, since it had been connected for less than 1 day, why would it fail? Here in the forum I did not receive any answers or help which makes everything more frustrating, on YouTube there are only videos on how to install it and it only says “you leave the node working and it downloads by itself” which is a lie because problems arise that require that one starts to solve them, which is the point of everything being so easy and beautiful in interface if there are many unresolved problems inside? The truth is a disappointment. I was able to recover my bitcoins using the seed words but if someone who manages to install everything and forgets to backup their words is condemned to lose everything due to a simple error that the program occurs to throw. Umbrel is still very green in my opinion, it needs a lot of work from the developers and the community to offer help for common problems. Without further ado, I hope that some mod closes this post since the problem was not resolved and I decided to delete everything and look for another alternative to keep my bitcoins out of exchanges and hot wallets.
In the future, if it is better optimized and so much “cute” software is left aside and it is functional, I will be here again. but I would also like YouTubers to also talk about the problems or possible problems that one faces when installing Umbrel and not just say “just install it and that’s it!”
Maybe you don’t share my opinion but that’s what I faced in these 3 months of trying to install bitcoin node since having a 100mb connection at least 20 attempts to delete everything and reinstall I came to this conclusion. I even had the node at 99.80% until one night I decided to turn it off from the “Shut Down” option and the next day when I turned it on it told me that it was necessary to Reindex since there was a single missing block which was very frustrating because to get there At that 99.80% I had to spend 9 days, and then another 9 days reindexing, which is 18 lost days added to the other previous days. to just enjoy the full node for EXACTLY 1 month, which made me very happy that he was so punctual to release an error.

I understand your frustration- it’s not fun having to constantly resolve issues like this and still continually have problems.

Unfortunately, in this case I believe it comes back to the HDD. You can see on many Raspberry Pi community forums that not every SSD/HDD is suitable for use with Pis. HDD keep disconnecting - Raspberry Pi Forums. This will cause Umbrel to crash, unfortunately we cannot do much to help with this.

We usually recommend the following SSD and enclosure: https://a.co/d/8Qf6qPt https://a.co/d/1YGr589
Otherwise there is also the Umbrel Home
