hello everybody…

i have now tried several times to install umbrel os on my raspberry pi 4 8gb exactly according to the instructions on getumbrel.com

when accessing the webbrowser i always get the following error message:
“Error: Failed to connect external drive. There was an error connecting your external drive. Please consider using the recommended hardware listed on getumbrel.com

the logs from “systemctl” via ssh are this:

does anyone have an idea what this can be?

perhaps it is still important to say that at my Raspberry exclusively the SD card with the operating system umbrel and a 2 TB USB stick are connected as storage… the stick is fat32 formated…

thanks for your efforts…

now comes the next problem…

i accessed the rpi via ssh and wanted to change the locale in raspi-config as root user… after the reboot the error message “bash: warning: setlocale: LC_ALL: cannot change locale (de_DE.UTF-8)”
why i dont can change the locale? what am i doing wrong, i am not too stupid to read an instruction… am really irritated…

Hi @b88, firstly just to confirm, what SSD are you using with the Pi?

and after SSHing back into Umbrel, could you please run the following

sudo ~/umbrel/scripts/debug

hey smolgrrr,
thanks for your replay…
i use an fat32 formated 2tb noname usb-stick…

because 0bin net not works i share the logs on my cryptpad…

umbrel logs

Unfortunately a USB-stick based drive is not going to suffice for storage with UmbrelOS on the Pi. You will need to upgrade to a SSD like the following
SSD
Case

ok, i change to sandisk extreme 1tb…

I had a problem with the Sandisk Ultra II SSD working on my Pi 4 with Umbrel. I hope you had more success. It would never format the drive and I tried a few times. I used another drive to set it up and cloned it over to the Sandisk in Windows with partition software and that made it work. I had a silicon power and a samsung drive work out of the box but not the sandisk.
