Having some trouble keeping my Umbrel Bitcoin Node running - it crashes 2-3x per day. It’s running on a raspberry pi 4 with an m2 ssd. Pi has a fan to keep cool. I’m using an official Pi power block for the chip. I have auxilary power running directly to the SSD, and I’ve cut the red power line going from the SSD to the pi to prevent power back-flow. Runs great for a few hours and then I get the solid red and green lights on the Pi. Restarting the Pi does not work, I need to turn the Pi off, disconnect/reconnect the SSD and then restart the Pi to get it back up and running. I’ve attached my logs. Anyone able to help diagnose the issue?
Hi Effi15 - Thank you! I’ve made the suggested updates and we’ll see how it goes. Great idea using ChatGPT. It also has some more suggestions that I’ll try if the issue persists.
Update: I made the suggested changes and it did improve stability, in a way. The pi would still crash multiple times per day, but it was now restarting on it’s own rather than requiring me to unplug/replug the m2 ssd to restart.
Next I replaced the m2 SSD enclosure since I’ve heard some are not compatible with the Pi. That seems to have fixed the issue now. 3 days so far without a crash, a new record.
