Hi all,
I built a small app I wanted for myself and figured others here might want it too: SoloBCH Forge, a self-hosted Bitcoin Cash (BCH) solo-mining Stratum server for Umbrel. Point your Bitaxe / NerdQaxe++ / any Stratum V1 ASIC at it and mine BCH directly to your own Bitcoin Cash Node. No pool, no fees, no middleman. If your hardware finds a block, the entire reward is paid to your address.
As far as I can tell it is the first BCH solo pool for umbrelOS. If you already run Public Pool for BTC, this is the same idea for BCH, and NerdQaxe firmware can point at both at once.
What it does
- True solo mining to your own Bitcoin Cash Node app. Your BCH address is the Stratum username, and that address is paid in the coinbase. No wallet in the app, no custody.
- Zero-config on Umbrel. It picks up the node’s RPC details automatically, nothing to copy.
- Live dashboard behind Umbrel’s login: node sync, connected miners, per-worker hashrate and shares, hashrate history, best share, blocks found, and an odds panel with your expected time-to-block.
- “Is this working?” button that checks settings, node, block building, Stratum port, your miner and its shares, then tells you what to fix.
- Vardiff per worker, instant new-block jobs over ZMQ, fresh templates every 30 seconds.
- Webhook alerts for block found, new best share, and miner offline.
- Prometheus /metrics endpoint and a ready-made Grafana dashboard.
- Pure Python standard library, tiny multi-arch image, runs fine on a Pi. Stratum is LAN-only and the node RPC never leaves Umbrel’s internal network.
Install
- App Store → The ‘…’ next to search → Community App Stores → Manage
- Add: https://github.com/DanCreatesStuff/SoloBCHForge
- Open the SoloBCH App Store and install SoloBCH Forge
Requires the Bitcoin Cash Node app, fully synced (while it syncs the app runs in a safe mock mode and never submits anything).
Point your miner at it
- URL: stratum+tcp://Your-Umbrel-IP:3334
- Username: bitcoincash:qxxx…xxx.rig1 (your CashAddr, optional worker name)
- Password: anything
The honest part
Solo mining is a lottery. A small miner may go a very long time without a block. Run this for sovereignty, learning, and the ticket, not as income.

Happy to answer questions here. Would love to hear from anyone running it on a Pi 5 or Umbrel Home.
