Factory Reset - Umbrel Home

This reset will erase all data on Umbrel Home, including all stored data, settings, and configurations. Umbrel Home will be restored to its factory default state. Please ensure that you have backed up any important data before proceeding with this process.


  1. Initiate the Factory Reset: Open a terminal and run the following command to reset Umbrel Home:

    curl -L https://link.umbrel.com/factory-reset | bash
    
  2. Prepare the Reflasher USB Stick: Use BalenaEtcher to flash the Umbrel-USB-Reflasher image onto a USB stick.

  3. Power Off Umbrel Home: Turn off Umbrel Home at the power switch.

  4. Insert the Reflasher USB Stick: Plug the USB stick into Umbrel Home.

  5. Turn Umbrel Home Back On: Power on Umbrel Home with the USB stick inserted.

  6. Wait for Reflashing: Allow about 5 minutes for Umbrel to automatically reflash its internal SSD. Umbrel Home will power off when the reflashing process is complete.

  7. Remove the USB Stick: After Umbrel powers down, remove the USB stick.

  8. Turn Umbrel Home On Again: Power up Umbrel Home once more.

  9. Wait for the Initial Boot: Umbrel will complete its first boot, which can take around 5 minutes.

  10. Complete Setup: Once booted, go to http://umbrel.local in a web browser and follow the on-screen setup instructions.


After completing these steps, any available updates should appear and install without any issues.
