I have some apps made “publicly” available via Nginx Proxy Manager, so i can access them via a subdomain. Let say Jellyfin can also open from jellyfin.domain.com . But by default, when you open an app from Umbrel it always opens umbrel.local:portnumber .
I figured out that you can change the yml file and update the path value. The question is; does this value get reset after an app update and is there a way to prevent this?
Hey, yep, edits to umbrel-app.yml get overwritten when the app updates, so that path change won’t stick.
An easier option if you’re on umbrelOS 1.7 or newer: right-click an empty spot on the Umbrel home screen, choose “Add shortcut”, and paste your full URL, like https://jellyfin.domain.com. That gives you a separate shortcut to your subdomain without editing any app files, so app updates won’t reset it.
That’s a solution for sure, thanks allot! I’ll take the double icons for granted
