Bitcoin Core --> Bitcoin Knots, why?

If I’m running Bitcoin Core why would I move to Bitcoin Knots, is there some significant advantage of Knots that would make it worth all the trouble?

The whole Core V Knots debate is primarily concerned with the OP_RETURN limit changes in Core. There are many YouTube videos explaining the background to the issue. Similarly, there are many interesting threads on X that go in detail on what’s at stake.

I wrote something about that last year. Shameless plug: Bitcoin Knots: A Better Bitcoin Client

Thanks, awesome write up! Assuming there are no Easter eggs in the Knots s/w to drain my wallet, it looks like the way to go.

If I’m currently running a node on a Windoze 11 machine, if I ‘upgrade’ to Knots will have have to re-download the whole blockchain?

No way, it won’t drain your wallet if you run it on Umbrel and use it to verify or send transactions.

I’ll leave Bitcoin Core on my Umbrel, but I didn’t update the node on my Windoze 11 machine to Knots just to see what it’s all about. Thanks for the input.

no you can just move the folders chainstate and blocks to the data directory of the bitcoin knots app or just run from the bitcoin-knots folder bitcoin-qt.exe -DATADIR=your file folder here ex; bitcoin-qt -Datadir=g:\bitcoin\data

please dont move the folders when the node is running
