Automatic Backups

Hey!

I’ve started an automatic channel backup, but there is no loading screen or any indication that the backup is actually happening.

When I started the backup it said it could take several days.

Should I just be patient and trust that the backup is happening i the background? How long normally until channels start to appear?

I have some old my-umbrel-backups on my pc, but they are almost a year old. Is it advisable/risky restoring my channels with these?

Hi @merkeba, definitely want to use the most recent channel back-ups!
These Automatic Encrypted Back-ups are stored with the Umbrel team at the moment, as you can see here https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel/blob/master/scripts/backup/README.md
If you’d like access one of these back-ups- I’d reach out over the umbrel.com livechat or their telegram.

You can run this command to grab your backup ID:

cat ~/umbrel/logs/karen.log | grep 'backup ID' | tail -n 1

And can provide me your backup ID that populates

It helps as well if you provide as close as you can the day you believe your node went down so we can give you the last backup that would have been generated

We never have access to your seed phrase but automated recovery makes it easy so all you need is your seed phrase on your side and your backup file populates, we can check the date and if a backup file exists and we can provide that to you on-demand
