Access Issues on Umbrel.local: Many Apps Not Connecting - SOLVED

Hello everyone,

I recently set up my Umbrel instance on a Raspberry Pi 5, following the official guide on GitHub. I’m using a 2TB Patriot P320 SSD NVMe as my storage solution.

After connecting my Raspberry Pi to the internet via an Ethernet cable and powering it up, I was thrilled to see that accessing http://umbrel.local worked flawlessly from my iPhone. The UI is smooth, allowing me to install apps and view stats from my Raspberry Pi 5 without any issues.

However, the excitement came to a halt when I tried accessing Immich after installation. Nothing would load on my iPhone, and the situation was the same on my PC. At first, I thought I might have set something up incorrectly, but then I installed AdGuard, and surprisingly, it worked just fine.

This issue is peculiar as I can access some applications but not others. I have not found anyone with a similar issue on this forum, which is why I decided to start this thread hoping for some guidance.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any more details!

Here’s some potentially helpful information:

  • Hardware: Raspberry Pi 5
  • SSD: Patriot P320 2TB SSD
  • Version: UmbrelOS 1.4

And I can only upload 2 files at the time so here is the log of the apps:
umbrel_adguard-home_2025-03-19_22-49.log (5.7 KB)
umbrel_immich_2025-03-19_22-49.log (45.6 KB)

And here is the general Umbrel OS log file:
umbrel-1742418522970.log (2.9 MB)

Hello, so I didn’t fix the issue itself, but my instance is working now! I followed the tutorial to install the Umbrel OS again, accessed the instance through the local IP of my RPi 5, installed an app, and after a while of waiting, everything worked perfectly! After a reboot, the umbrel.local URL started to work too. I fixed my RPi 5 fan issue, and now we have a very good working Umbrel OS instance. I am marking this thread as SOLVED. For the next person having this issue, from what I have found, the error is related to the docker container getumbrel/app-proxy that may fail due to a mismatch of architecture… Very weird, so good luck!
