I know this has probably been covered before and if so, please send me the link to get my 2 umbrel nodes up and running again. First off, wasn’t sure what external drive went with what node (identical hardware). It has been about 1.5 years since I moved houses, and turned off the nodes. I hooked up my two nodes, and they both booted up. I tried to upgrade both of them, and one got stuck during the upgrade and I shut it down (pulled the plug). The other upgrade worked, but as when I first started up the nodes before the upgrade, they weren’t seeing the entire 2 TB hard drives, only 20 gigs or so. So, I am stuck with one node with a 1.5 upgrade and not recognizing the disk (only sees a small portion of it), and the other node won’t boot at all… Would appreciate any tips, tricks, etc - to get back up and running.
Node hardware info:

2 Umbrel Nodes running on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 8 GB RAM, with Argon One V2 enclosures, Samsung 2TB 870 QVO SATA3 2.5" SSD in UGreen powered enclosure

Saw a post that said if you plug the external disk into the wrong USB port on the node, it will be problematic - USB 2 versus 3.X… was plugged into the 3.X slot… moved to 2.X slot - and it worked - umbrel came up running 1.5 version, and it recognizes the old external drive. So that is good, and it is downloading the rest of the bitcoin transactions… All GOOD! Happy about that…

BUT, BUT, BUT - the other node that had a failed 1.5 upgrade (I pulled the plug after it was close to complete but wouldn’t complete after quite a long while) won’t boot up at all… could use help with that node to get it back up and running…
still_mo => found the problem with the 2nd node not recognizing the external drive. the Samsung drive plugs into the UGreen powered enclosure but is not held tight by screws, etc. during the moves (from one city to another in Thailand, and from Thailand to Florida), and maybe when I moved it around during current set up, the drive came loose… reseated it and restarted the node - and voilla - the drive was recognized on the 2nd node… prior to that I had to reEtch the flash drive with umbrel 1.5 in order to get it to bootOnUP…
but for now, both bitcoin nodes are sync’ing on up, taking awhile… last transactions were dated Aug 2024, so have a long way to go…
but all with the 2 bitcoin nodes seems to be swell - for now…
sure did forget a metricButtTonne of things I had learned when I first set up the nodes… it is slowly but surely coming back to me…
and yet, still mo_mo_MO… was looking into why the sync (only needed sync’ing from Aug 2024 to now) was SO DAMN SLOW… and one of the several things that I could do to speed it up (including upgrade to pi 5 from pi 4) was faster disk access… and I looked at the specs on my UGreen external drive enclosure and it has USB 3.X capability… I shutdown the nodes, and moved the USB connections from the enclosures to the USB 3.X ports on my pi4 nodes… maybe that might help speed things up a little… the network isn’t the issue - plugging directly into my Xfinity pretty modern/new router… at around 85% sync’d… been running for not quite 1 day… hope the move to USB 3.X from USB 2.X makes a difference… I am not in the mood to upgrade to pi5 (would cost about $1,000 for two pi5’s, new argon enclosures, upgrade to 4tb fast Samsung nvme SSDs (would fit into the argon enclosures)…
You can add additional Cache Size …
I use: dbcache=8192
updated mine to 8192… hope it helps speed things up… every little bit helps…
