Two nodes, one allows you to choose passwords, other does not - why the difference

I am running two umbrel nodes on Raspberry Pi 4, Model B with 8 GB RAM, running 0.5.4 umbrel. When I restart them, one allows me to choose from previous passwords (asterisked out), and I can choose the most recent password, and go to 2FA… On the other one no previous passwords (asterisked) are offered up, have to type in the password… Why the difference in the login procedure? Did I tweek one of the nodes config file to allow or not allow the asterisked passwords at login? I don’t remember.

Can you please elaborate on the restart process- are you just restarting from the settings dashboard, or are you trying to do a fresh instance?
This is not the usual start-up outcome.

Just restarting from the settings page…

so when the system restarts and I access from the Web interface, and it comes up asking for a password… one of the nodes when I click in the password area presents asterisked passwords, and I am able to pick one and it logs me in… on the other node (same version of Umbrel, same hardware, etc) - it doesn’t present the asterisked passwords…

Note that I have 2FA enabled, so even though the asterisked password Umbrel allows me to login, I still have to enter the 2FA info to complete the login…

Unfortunately I don’t think I can help with this- this sounds like the ‘suggested passwords’ feature that comes with most browsers. You may need to add the password to your second node, but this is unrelated to Umbrel itself

Smollgrrrrrrr - thanks for taking a look at this… you are a freakN genius of sorts… I must have changed the password on one of the nodes (in the settings interface), but not on the second node… it is when you change the password, and if you use the suggest strong password option (this is on Chrome), that this must happen… tried to restart but it didn’t come up with the login page, kept me logged in… will see in the future, but I think that was the solution… thanks again for the idea…
