Trouble connecting to umbrel.local

Dealing with a connection issue for a new Umbrel Home. Plugged in the UH and went to http://umbrel.local on home wifi. It would not connect using a laptop (HP Windows 11), but for some reason it did connect on a Samsung Galaxy tablet (which is not going to be the primary access device for Umbrel). I know the Umbrel Home is connected properly since the local web page appears on the tablet, but I can’t not figure out why it won’t connect to the local web page on the laptop (using both Brave and Chrome browsers). Any ideas/advice?

sounds like a different dns.
my guess would be that either your laptop has a hard set dns, like googles 8.8.8.8
or maybe its connected to a different(wifi) router
try using your umbrel ip address instead or set the laptop’s dns to the same as your tablet.

if both devices use the same dhcp it should work although the laptop could still have an alternative dns set

Thanks for your reply. Managed to connect on laptop, but only momentarily. It now connects, but then disconnects within a minute. Any idea why that might be?

For me the problem is the laptop, in the sense that there could be something odd about it.
to exclude as many options as possible connect by IP (e.g: http://192.168.0.10) and cable only.

Both wifi and dns as other network settings can cause these kind of problems,

You could also boot a usb linux on the laptop to see if that works.
(to exclude hardware problems from laptop)

Does your laptop connect to same (wifi)router?

I am having the same issue after the 1.4 update
