Trouble Connecting My Umbrel Node Remotely – Need Help!

Hey everyone,

I have been running my Umbrel node on a Raspberry Pi 4 at home for a few months now.., and everything works great locally. However, I would love to access it remotely (outside my home network) and I am not quite sure how to set that up securely. I have looked into solutions like Tailscale and port forwarding.., but I am a bit hesitant about exposing ports directly.

Ideally.., I would like a setup that maintains privacy and doesn’t compromise the node’s integrity. Has anyone here successfully configured remote access in a secure way: ?? If so, what method did you use and what should I watch out for: ??

Also.., is there any way to monitor the node’s health or receive alerts if it goes offline: ??

Appreciate any guidance or real-world experience you can share. This community has been awesome.., and I am learning a ton as I go. I have also gone through this thread https://community.umbrel.com/t/unable-to-connect-to-umbrel-node-sap-fico-course-in-pune but still looking for more help.

Thanks in advance !!

Daniel Jose

There is built in TOR support in the settings. :slightly_smiling_face: Just enable it and you can connect in a TOR enabled browser. I prefer Brave-Browser. :+1: You will be shown an .onion adress. Paste this in the browser in TOR-Mode and it will slowly show your umbrel :victory_hand:

You should of course have a safe password and to be even more safe enable 2FA authorization.
