Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

For the past few weeks, we’ve been working hard to bring the full power of TunnelSats to a native umbrelOS app format. Running a node at home is awesome, but keeping your physical IP address completely private while maintaining fast Clearnet routing speeds is notoriously tricky.

We’ve built the Tunnel​:high_voltage:Sats Umbrel App to make this completely effortless for the Umbrel community.

:shield: What does it do?

It provides a premium, privacy-preserving networking layer designed exclusively for LND and Core Lightning node runners. By utilizing high-performance WireGuard tunnels, it solves the ‘Home IP’ exposure conundrum and prevents DDoS attacks against your home router.

  • Targeted Routing: We specifically tunnel LND/CLN traffic ONLY. Your Nextcloud or Plex traffic remains fully local.
  • Zero Config: The app handles the heavy lifting. Setup on the node takes seconds.
  • NWC Auto-Renewals: Simply log into tunnelsats.com, import your Umbrel configuration, and link your Nostr Wallet Connect. Our dashboard handles the renewals so your node never goes offline.

We hope to be reviewed and added to the official App Store (Bitcoin category) soon! Until then, you can add our community repository directly to your Umbrel today:

  1. Open your Umbrel App Store
  2. Click the three dots (Community App Stores)
  3. Add: https://github.com/Tunnelsats/ts-umbrel-app

We've implemented the whole subscribe and renew journey, right into the Umbrel App. For new customers, it's chosing our *VPN Server > your subscription time > pay > Install*, and you're done.

For our existing customers, please [uninstall](https://tunnelsats.com/guide#uninstallation) your running connection first. Then all it takes is just to import your existing tunnelsats.conf in the new app, two clicks and all is set for anonymous and secure routing again. No node restarts needed anymore!

Honestly, this sounds like a great add on. I have to admit I’m new to this and still learning and don’t know about “link your Nostr Wallet Connect“. But if this accomplishes as described and helps to maintain privacy I hope the Umbrel folks will consider it. Also the LND and RTL apps in Umbrel are very outdated and still the beta versions. Would love to see these updated. Anyway, this sounds like a great add on if you can make it newbie proof for people like me.
