Yeah, I feared that this would be the next step. However, I get your first two bullet points about cleaning the SSD, umbelos, however, is installed in my SD-Card. Wouldn’t it hence be the first step to backup /home/umbrel/umbrel/app-data (I’m not sure how I’ll do that right now),format the SSD and then copy the backup to the clean disk?
Well, it’s best to plan your actions to avoid making a mistake. By the way, I’ve searched the entire post, and you never mentioned what device you’re using. RPI 4 or RPI 5?
First of all, a clarification regarding the SD card. Umbrelos uses the SD card for the OS and expands it to the disk with the apps, mainly. Your problem isn’t with the SD card, but with your disk. This doesn’t seem to be your case, but just so you’re clear. Problem X could be affecting the installation on the SD card and also the extended installation on the disk. Again, this isn’t your case, but just so you’re clear.
Planning:
- I would backup the app-data folder ( /home/umbrella/umbrella/app-data ), which is where all your apps are installed and stored.
Since you’ve connected the disk to a computer, the easiest thing to do would be to find that folder (app-data) and copy/paste it to your computer or another external disk through the computer. Just make sure you have enough space (1 TB) because the blockchain is there. This is the simplest. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with commands from the rpi.
Aside from that, you use lighting. I assume you have backed up the seed, keys, config, etc. I mean, I assume you have funds on your node, right?
- I would format the disk again in etx4, GPT Partition Table.
You already have the disk connected to the computer. gparted will do it for you.
- I would reinstall umbrella with the most recent version.
There’s not much to say here. You already know that.
- I would install apps one by one. For example, bitcoin core. I install, stop, transfer blockchain from the existing copy, and let it index until it’s syncing correctly. Once this is confirmed, I go to the next app and do the same.
Well, that’s it. One by one.
And if you get stuck on any part of the process and/or aren’t sure, just ask and we’ll help you.
