Hey everyone,

It’s finally here! We’re so excited to finally reveal umbrelOS 2.0.

This is our biggest update to umbrelOS yet.

Photos and our new iOS app. Machines. Multiple users. MCP server for AI agents. Storage Manager with FailSafe (RAID). Support for NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs. Custom app folders. And a new Mac app.

All of it, in a stunning new design.

So much of this came straight from you. We read every thread and every suggestion on this forum, and 2.0 is our answer to years of them. Thank you for pushing us.

We’re keeping this post short on purpose. Every one of these features deserves its own story, and we’ll tell them properly on September 22. But if you’d rather not wait:

To try it today on your existing Umbrel, make sure you’ve updated to umbrelOS 1.7.4, and enroll in the beta at Settings > Advanced > umbrelOS Beta Program. For a new install, download umbrelOS 2.0 beta 1 here: Download umbrelOS

If you try out 2.0, please share what you find in this thread, and tell us what’s still missing. You’ve shaped this release more than you know, and we’d love to keep it that way.

I tried to register for the iOS Beta through TestFlight. But it seems that I’m not on the invite list.

Update looks great. Very well polished. Not deploying it on my main Umbrel yet… I have it installed on my remote Umbrel but starting the onboarding via the iPhone app it fails to pick up the remote Umbrel via Tailscale. I can’t be on the same network as that machine as it’s set up in a different country. Anyway around that? I’m stuck at the start screen with no way to connect the iOS app to my Umbrel on 2.0.0 in another country.

Yes it’s working now. I was able to download the app to the iPhone and it recognized my Umbrel Home. Thank you!

Been working with this all day today. It’s an amazing upgrade, well done dev team… it’s clear you’ve been listening to our feedback. My favorite changes are allowing SMB password changes for our Time Machine backups, Virtual Machines of course, and obviously all the visual changes which are just beautiful.

Now that VMs and other resource hogs (looking at you AI apps) are being added… will we soon see a “Super Umbrel Pro Ultra Max” with a beefier CPU and double the RAM?

Umbrel just caught up to the UNRAIDs of the world for the homelabbers imo.

Would be nice to sort the albums in the photos app by name, date, etc.
