knots on umbrel for a while with few issues, Resently knots continues to shut down and now want restart,

it has found something wrong in the chain and wants to reindex.

You will need to reindex.

Bitcoin core stopped unexpectedly

Yeah I think you will have to re-index. To do that, you go to the apps Settings > Advanced > “Custom bitcoin.conf overrides” > add “reindex=1” > Save Overrides. This should start reindexing it which will hopefully fix the issue.
