Adding a second SSD rpi

Hello everyone,

I’m currently running Umbrel on my Raspberry Pi with a 1TB SSD and I’m considering expanding my setup by adding a second SSD.

Before I proceed, I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with this.Is it possible to add another SSD to the Umbrel system on a Raspberry Pi? If so, are there specific configurations or considerations I need to be aware of to ensure smooth operation and compatibility?

Thanks!

I really wanted this feature when my SSD died and I had to resync the whole chain. If I’d been running a BTC pay server for a business I would’ve been down for an extended period. I don’t think it’s currently supported though.

Hey, did you ever add that second SSD?. I’m looking to do that now, what hurdles did you encounter? What tips do you have?

It is possible.
But the second SSD will need its own power supply.
2 SSDs is too much for the raspy.

If you are migrating to larger disk, clone it on pc with balena etcher, boot with new ssd and increase it’s partition size. If you want to really use two disks at once, I guess you can manually mount the second disj, but it’s usability from within umbrel web gui itself will be quite limited.
