Unable to connect core lightning node with Zeus

I have connected my lightning node to Zeus and it works perfectly and I’ve been using it for quite some time, however, I’m unable to connect my core lightning node with the Zeus wallet.

I decided I would make contact with the Zeus team via Telegram on this issue. They informed me that Umbrel is out of date and needs to update the REST API. I will attach a screenshot of the correspondence below.

Does Umbrel have any intention of updating the REST API so that we can connect our core lightning nodes with Zeus?

You need to install the Alby Hub app on Umbrel. There you can create a Connection Zeus can use. It works via NWC protocol - all free and easy.

Alby Hub doesn’t work with CLN afaik. Bumping this thread to ask the Umbrel devs if they can update the REST API. Thanks!

The cln-application for Core Lightning has been updated to version 0.0.7. This release includes a bunch of new features, including CLNRest, which should help resolve the issues with Umbrel and the Zeus connection. Any ETA on an update, @smolgrrr ?

Or you can upgrade to Start9 OS that doesn’t break and works way smoother. Anyways I recommend you get start9, Bitcoin Knots, LND, and AlbyHub and your set! Thank me later!

I have the same issue and wonder if the umbrel team can update to CLNRest instead of the current c-lighning-rest.

It would be nice to use alby Hub with core lighting. I hope you have time to fix that one day too. Thanks in advance guys

what hardware do you use? I see on start9 docs that they dont recommend rasberry pi for bitcoin software

When looking at core lightning on Umbrel, the only options I see for connecting wallets are LN Message, LN Message (Tor), REST and gRPC. Am I missing something?

I’ve got an update on this. The latest Core Lightning fixed most of the issues. The connection page still shows some incorrect info, but you can now connect Zeus locally to your node. Use https://umbrel.local, port 2107, and your rune.

Tor support is getting an update soon. @nmfretz is working on it with Shahana from Blockstream. I can confirm it works, and it’s only going to improve from here!
