Umbrel GUI shows old partition size

Hi,

I have been using 750GB HDD and I have recently switched to 1TB SSD as recommended. I cloned the HDD to SSD and afterthat I have expanded the partition with “parted” to 1TB. Can I somehow update the size in Umbrel? Reboot did not help.

Thank you

Oldrich

GUI still uses the old size, but parted shows that the drive is 1TB already:
image

umbrel@umbrel:~ $ sudo parted
[sudo] password for umbrel:
GNU Parted 3.2
Using /dev/sda
Welcome to GNU Parted! Type ‘help’ to view a list of commands.
(parted) print
Model: TO Exter nal USB 3.0 (scsi)

Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Disk Flags:

You should let Umbrel to format that drive and not doing it manually.
If you have the old drive, you better make a clone image using Acronis software, booting up with that Acronis image disk and select clone disk. It will ask you about sizeing and just choose full partition disk. It will clone the old disk into the new one, using the whole size and also copying the files much better then disk parted, because is doing it at clusters level not FS level.

PS: if you need Acronis image disk image, let me know, can send you a link.

Thank you, that makes sense. All the freeware sw I have found did not allow me to clone&extend the partition with ext4, that is why I used the process above. I relly would appreciate if you could send me the link, I still have the old drive.

Sure. Let me upload it to a secure server so you can download it.

EDIT:
Here you have it - Link to Acronis Boot image
I am using GoFile.io a great tool to share privately files.
You can Rufus image usb creator
or Balena Etcher
to write that iso image on a USB stick and boot with it.
The process is very simple and intuitive.

Downloaded, thanks! Should I boot the RPi with that image or my desktop to make the clone? (maybe a stupid question, sorry for that)

Nooo, your RPi just leave it.
Connect both disks (old and new) to anotehr PC. Doesn’t matter his disk with OS, you can even disconnect it.
Use the image with that PC, just boot with that USB. All the rest you will just follow the instructions to clone.
Once is cloned, shut down, remove the disks, put the new disk cloned into your Pi and power on.
Done.

Question: is your old drive containing the latest version of you channels?
Do not copy that if you already used the new drive opening/closing/transacting on LN.
Watch out NOT cloning an old version of your LN channels state!

I have no funds in the channels, because my umbrel keeps freezing every other day or so. The only part that I use that is not as recommended is the 750GB HDD, that is why I try to move to SSD…

Nevertheless, Acronis did not help - whathever I choose it always gets me the same partition size as it is on the old drive + some unallocated space. I can make it 2 partition drive, but not a single partition that fits the drive (eventhough there is an option that states exactly this option). Even if I chose manual partition size, the box is greyed out and I cannot change it.

The simplest way probably will be to reflash and download the blockchain again :frowning:

then is something wrong with that drive.
You will need a fdisk or something to eliminate all the shit.

I have reflashed the SD card and started from the scratch. Thank you anyway!
