Sync from 99.93% after reboot takes forever

Linux node 0.5.4 went down over the holidays, after reboot I only get 1-6 peers connected and the sync is super slow. Any ideas on what is going on?

How come? A couple of hundred blocks used to be minutes, but now it took over a day.

Nowadays blocks are full therefore syncing takes more time. This is normal behvior
