Been running an Umbrel for several years on Rasp Pi 4, SSD 1TB.
I decided to switch over to knots, so followed a YT tutorial and dragged the Bitcoin Core data file into Knots and it worked fine. (Late May).
After a week away, in June, I saw that knots was not displaying any blocks, or any info at all. It was just stuck on “starting”.
I reflashed UmbrelOS 1.4.2 and started up and it just started synching from the first block (currently 32% after 2 days).
What happened to my data? It must be there somewhere. What am I looking for? Why does my Umbrel not see it?
I don’t mind waiting a few days to sync, but I am concerned that I will fill up my 1TB SSD too quickly if it is holding 2 entire ₿ blockchains.
Thnaks to anyone who can help…
So, the blockchain is still downloading, almost 50%.
I guess the old blockchain was somehow deleted because the SSD has only used 422GB so far.
No idea how the entire blockchain got wiped from SSD. Could that happen with a power surge? Shouldn’t think so.
Hopefully, I’ll be back to full capacity early next week.
I ran into an error when syncing my node. It would just stop syncing past 82%.
I found that stopping all other applications other that Knots really helped when on a RPi.

I’ll keep it in mind, thanks
What did tcarson say? Controversial?
A week later the sync is still not complete, 92.21%, and 819GB of storage used. I only have 1TB so maybe that’s the problem.
Is there any way the data would self delete if the SSD fills up completely? Could tha be what happened?
It’s clear at this stage that I need to upgrade to 2TB. Can I just plug in a 2nd SSD to the RasPi?
