Maybe you can try sudo ./umbrel/scripts/repo checkout https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel-apps.git first and then the solution you posted since the command above could reset your copy of the app store source repo

I repeated the process (realised i missed the . on the clone command). I did not use the last two commands, but refreshed and now i have apps on the appstore! Thanks so much.
