Immich photo server on NEW Umbrel Home - EXTERNAL Drive

Greetings,

I’ve searched the community and not found the info I need. I have Immich on Umbrel Home backing up my iPad photos to Immich, no problem. However, now that Umbrel Home supports USB storage, I’d like to move Immich’s file storge to a larger external USB drive.

My question to the community is, can anyone provide details on the process for re-mapping Immich’s storage from the Umbrel Home’s internal drive to an external drive via USB?

ChatGPT gave me detailed instructions on how to create a docker-compose.overide.yml file using Nano. I followed the steps, but they had no effect on where the photos were being stored.

Any and all help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hello I also need help doing this. I might be farther a long in the process so i’m here to help you and hopefully get answers too. So Immich has this docs page on setting up Custom Locations. It is really helpful but the issue I have is locating the .env file. I know .files are hidden in Linux but even showing hidden files it doesn’t come up. So either there isn’t one created yet or Umbrel OS doesn’t use or store them in the usual spot. I am going to refence this to my friend @denny who’s really knowledgeable in Umbrel OS to see if he can help us. (Thanks Denny in advance)
