How to use Bitcon node with Tor login

Hello,

I’ve installed a Bitcoin node and a Monero node via the Umbrel store, but I can’t seem to connect any applications using the Tor credentials.

Bitcoin:

Username: umbrel
Password: xyz…
Host: xyz.onion
Port: 8332

Monero: same, but port 18081.

I’ve tried Umbrel store apps like Specter Desktop for Bitcoin and the Monero GUI app on macOS, but entering the Tor credentials doesn’t work. Tor is enabled in Umbrel settings, so I’m not sure why it’s failing.

Do I need to open any ports or enable specific settings in the node applications?

I want to uninstall Tor because I don’t see it being useful and there are better secure ways to VPN. I don’t know why docker desktops package it because all that is now these days is an attack surface for hackers.

tailscale works faster but as far as tor try from outside your network so its not looping around back on itself.

Look at your debugging logs and make sure tor is connected. Depending on where you live it maybe blocked

There seems to be a problem with the Specter Desktop application because when I try to log in, I get these logs.
