Automatic Lightning backups stopped working

Automatic Lightning channel backups stopped working for me around August 18, 2026. That was the last confirmed successful automatic backup.

Since then, the Lightning app continuously logs:

[backup-monitor] Error: Request failed with status code 403

I have already updated both umbrelOS and the Lightning Node app to the latest available versions, but the issue remains.

I also tested with Backup over Tor both enabled and disabled. The result is exactly the same in both cases, so this does not appear to be Tor-related.

The current Lightning app uploads backups to:

https://pvf3ozmmfl.execute-api.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/prod/v1/upload/<backupId>

Testing that endpoint directly returns:

HTTP/2 403
x-amzn-errortype: ForbiddenException
{"message":"Forbidden"}

The same 403 Forbidden response is returned for a multipart/form-data POST request and even for an OPTIONS request.

For comparison, the read-side API is reachable:

https://api.umbrel.com/lightning-backups/test

It responds from the Umbrel/Vercel backend with:

HTTP/2 500
{"error":true,"message":"Failed to get backup from server"}

So the read API appears to be reachable, while the AWS API Gateway endpoint used for uploading backups rejects requests with ForbiddenException.

The local Lightning node itself otherwise appears to be working normally, and the problem persists after updates and regardless of whether Tor is used.

Could you please check whether the AWS API Gateway upload endpoint is still active and correctly configured, or whether the Lightning app is using an outdated backup upload URL?
