For current Raspberry Pi 4 users on umbrelOS 0.5

To make use of umbrelOS 1.0’s new architecture, a re-install of the OS on your microSD is required due to significant under-the-hood changes. Specifically, there’s a new partitioning system designed for increased reliability of the OS. Don’t worry; your apps and data stored on the external drive will remain intact.

How to update to umbrelOS 1.0 on a Raspberry Pi 4:

1. Shut down your Umbrel: Navigate to umbrel.local > Settings, and shutdown your Umbrel.
2. Remove the microSD card: After shutting down, unplug the power adapter attached to your Raspberry Pi, and remove the microSD card.
3. Download the new umbrelOS 1.0: Download umbrelos-pi4.img.zip on your computer.
4. Prepare the microSD card: Use an app like Balena Etcher on your computer to flash the downloaded umbrelos-pi4.img.zip file onto your microSD card.
5. Insert the microSD card: Insert the newly flashed microSD card back into your Raspberry Pi.
6. Power up: Connect the power adapter to your Raspberry Pi. Wait for 3-4 minutes, and visit http://umbrel.local in your web browser.
