Are apps kept up-to-date?

I really like Umbrel, but some apps are far out of date and therefore a risk to install. For example, Umbrels’s version of Vikunja is 0.24.6 which dropped on 2024-12-22. The present version is 1.1, which fixes a XSS vulnerability Security issue. Also, it doesn’t work after install anyway as “The address ‘vikunja_web_1’ cannot be found”.

Are the apps not updated regularly?

It would be a lot of people time to keep all apps updated and not all apps are important to EVERYONE.

I would suggest learning how to deploy the apps from the source for apps you really care about or hook into someones Community App Store that is more apt to keep it updated for you.

Have you looked to see if someone has the apps you want on one of their Community App Stores?

I switch from Debian/Docker/Dockge as I thought Umbrel was an easier way to install and update. It is disappointing that apps may be insecure as they are not up-to-date. I see this has been an ongoing issue for some time, as I read the post by Denny of August 2024. I found his community store of GitHub, but that also has not been updated in 4 months. I found an up-to-date version of Vikunja on the Big Bear Community store, but that has errors in the docker compose.

It is looking like I will have to create my own store, as there is no way to add docker images directly to Umbrel without using Dockge etc.
