I have tried multiple times to achieve a fully synced Bitcoin node with a fresh Umbrel installation.
Machine: Intel NUC i5 12th generation
Proxmox VM with the following resources allocated: 16GB of ram, 1TB of SSD M2 disc space and 8 cpu cores (oversized).
Latest version of Umbrel on Ubuntu server 22.04 as well as 22.10 and Bitcoin Core 24.0.1
The following two scenarios are happening:
- Syncing starts, runs until about 15% to 16% (block number 411k approx.), then it drops all peers moves back approx. 5000 blocks and sync starts again to the 411k block number and drops again over and over (a never ending loop at the 411k block marker approx.
- Bitcoin node starts, is stuck in starting and the screen remains empty
