UmbrelOS 2.0 Doesn't detect my HDD's

Hello Umbrel

First time user here.

I’ve just installed Umbrel 2.0 on my NAS running from the USB method and it does detect my SSD without an issue.

However, I have a couple of HDD’s connected to a LSI HBA but those disks are not recognised.

I know the HBA hardware is detected though because I can see it in the terminal.

umbrel@umbrel:~$ lspci | grep -i broadcom
08:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller: Broadcom / LSI Fusion-MPT 12GSAS/PCIe Secure SAS38xx

But not the HDD’s attached to it?

What could be the problem? I had this configuration in Unraid and ZimaOS and it worked fine with the same Hardware.

Any tips?

Thank you very much.

hey, this looks like Umbrel’s drive detection rather than an issue with your HBA. umbrelOS 2.0 currently filters out drives reported as SAS, which can include SATA disks connected through an LSI HBA.

The Umbrel team has confirmed SAS support is coming in umbrelOS 2.1, so I’d recommend waiting for that rather than changing your setup or trying a custom workaround.

Hello

Yeah I since figured out that Umbrel is not supporting SAS drives or SAS HBA card.
I knew that the hardware was working fine, had to be Umbrel.

There’s a PR open for this in Github now.

Thanks, I hope this is implemented soon or I’ll be forced to go to another NAS software that better suits my needs because all my disks are using this harware configuration.

Happy this is being looked at.

All the best.
