I believe this wil be useful to know as I can see many of us (including me - where) are opening duplicated channels between nodes.
Opening balanced channels is much more efficient! Letâs say a 10M sat channel is opened, it means that both peers contributed 5m so it is equally balanced at the start and twice as big a channel as you would make on your own for the same number of sats.
Only one channel is opened.
This is done using a bos command, and this link explains how to use the command:

I finally convinced a good buddy of mine to get set up with an umbrel node.
We want to set up a decent sized channel between each other.
Instead of each of us opening up duplicate 5mil sat channel to one other,
I was going to have him participate in a 5 mil triangle swap with me on LightningNetwork+
After reading this, I feel it would be the best choice to Open a Shared Channel 10mil channel following these steps, and have him send me 5 mil sats using RTL under On-Chain -> Receive On-Chain Transaction to balance our shared channel.
Would you agree?

I am trying to simplify and streamline this process.
I took the step by step guidelines from CoinCharge and tried to re write the steps nice and easy to understand as to not scare off my friend. (Please see attached screenshots)
I think I have everything understood with the exception of the Lightning Invoice (Step 4)
If I am supplying 100% of the funds (5mil) to open the entire channel, wouldnât Node B be paying ME the 2.5 mil invoice from me to reimburse back for the half that I laid out, and not the other way around? It doesnât seem to make sense for me to open a channel for 5mil, and pay another 2.5 mil.
Please also advise if you think I am missing anything else.

- Why these people use the term âLightning addressâ for node URI? Are two different things.
- The ghetto swap is not like they explain it there. The process for ghetto swap as I explain it in this guide is li,ke this:
- Node A open a channel with Node B, letâs say 4M sats
- Once is open, Node A âpushâ half 2M sats to Node B, using keysend (no invoice no shit, no fees, no hops).
- Once the channel is balanced nicely 2+2M, Node B send back those 2M, onchain to Node A, to an onchain address provided by Node A.
Simple as that.

Maybe Iâm missing the point here, but why not just open a dual funded channel between your two nodes in terminal with âbos open-balanced-channelâ ? It is super easy and on-chain cost is split between the two parties.
