Move LND node to different hardware

Hey all,

I would like to move my current LND node to a new hardware. I already have Umbrel setup in the new hardware, Bitcoin Node connected and synced as well as Fulcrum. I have also installed LND but haven’t started it yet, so it’s not configured. My previous node is fully functional as we speak, the channels are open and working and I have full control over it. I also have my seed phrase at hand.

All previous discussions I see here (and elsewhere), are very old and most probably outdated. So I thought to start this new thread for current information on how to move LND without closing the channels! I hope for a procedure generally like this:

  1. Shutdown LND on old hardware
  2. Do something(s)
  3. Run LND on the new hardware and all the channels continue from there
  4. Fully delete/purge PND data on the old hardware, to avoid possible mistakes

I am hoping for such a procedure, because I saw in LND settings this switch about Automatic backups which is always on.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone tried it already?
  2. Do you have any other ideas on how to do the move? Preferably with fresh information, not years-old.
