Bitcoin node is stuck

Thanks for the detailed response and for taking the time. You are correct, it’s a behavior, not a problem. It is indexing, just very slow. It’s now up to 85.64%, an increase of about 3% since I originally posted 3 days ago. So it’s indexing at the rate of ~1% per day.

I will reactiveate the Tor Peers as you mentioned since it didn’t seem to make a difference.

My RPI5 is 8GB so not sure if I can increase to 1800MB but I’ll give it a shot.

I am using a 1 TB HDD and not an SSD so maybe that’s part of the slowness experienced.

I’m happy to be patient and wait. I just didn’t realize it was going to take 3-4 weeks to index the entire blockchain. As long as nothing is wrong, I’m good then. Thank you

You can do it without any problem. Unless you have a lot of other apps installed and running.

I am using a 1 TB HDD and not an SSD so maybe that’s part of the slowness experienced.

It’s not “maybe.” Your HDD is a “bottleneck.” You can have the most powerful device/hardware in the universe, but it will always be limited by the “weakest” part of its components. In this case, your HDD.

On the other hand, a 1TB HDD will soon be too small for you.
Blockchain continues to grow, and the question is no longer whether your drive will fill up. The question is how long it has left.
It’s recommended that you upgrade, preferably to at least a 2TB SSD.

No other apps installed yet until I get the node fully synced so I’ll crank it to 1800 MB Cache. Good point on HDD. I should’ve gone with 2TB SSD in hindsight right out of the gate. Thanks for your help.
