# Umbrel.local doesnt work

Getting error:

This site can’t be reachedumbrel.local’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.  
DNS\_PROBE\_STARTED

using my umbrel ip address works

How do i fix this?

I have restarted umbrel, it had no effect

I’m running pop\_os and using chromium/vivaldi browser

You need to setup the local domain on the http conf file. @DarthCoin tenaciously wrote [this guide](http://community.umbrel.com/t/how-to-set-a-static-ip-for-your-umbrel-machine/845) that probably will be useful to you.

I should have mentioned I already went through his post and it didn’t help.

I have restarted the umbrel and it didnt help.

I have modified the etc/hosts file and it had no effect.

I can access it using the static ip though…

I’m stumped at this point

I figured it out, I had a type in my hosts file, thanks.
