Can anyone confirm that Umbrel no longer fully supports new DIY hardware nodes and everything is optimized for the Umbrel Home platform?

The GitHub docs say it doesn’t work with external storage, which is obviously an issue. I had hoped help someone set up Umbrel on a small PC with an external 2 TB SSD.

Any insights would be appreciated.

I run UmbrelOS on a Raspberry Pi 4 with external storage, so that works.
I run UmbrelOS on an x86 micro PC with internal storage, so that works, too. I recently rebuilt that node this month using these instructions: [Install umbrelOS on x86 Systems · getumbrel/umbrel Wiki · GitHub](https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel/wiki/Install-umbrelOS-on-x86-systems)

During the setup process, there will be a prompt asking which device you want to install to, but your plan seems needlessly brittle, if I’m being honest. Using internal storage would be far superior for a server that will be running 24x7x365.2425.
