After installing both SearXNG and Open WebUI via the Umbrel app store, here are the next steps to take in order to get Open WebUI to stop throwing up errors when you attempt a web search.

Make sure to type “query” between less than / greater than signs, after the standard SearXNG query URL when typing it into the Open WebUI web search settings dialog box. (See photo, because this text editor hates me!)

Remember to add the “- json” format to settings.yml, just above “server:” in the following directory: ~/umbrel/app-data/searxng/data/config.
*Note: Adding -json to the settings.yml file in ~/umbrel/app-data/searxng doesn’t seem to do anything
