If I migrate to a new machine and install Ubuntu Server, can I just mount the SSD from my Pi and run the start scripts to continue where I left off? Or should I run the install script over the existing location of umbrel inside where I mounted the SSD? ---

Many users have had permission errors when attempting to do it this way, it may be easier to reinstall like new - I might recommend deleting the Umbrel directory and then reinstalling with the installation command. I’d recommend this if you don’t have much data and are just running a few applications right now, as a disclaimer this would require to perform a new initial blockchain download. There is a way to copy over the chainstate directories like this: [https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel-os/issues/119#issuecomment-691949967](https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel-os/issues/119#issuecomment-691949967) You can also copy any content from file storage apps that are all stored in the /downloads directory here: ~/umbrel/data/storage/downloads Let me know if you have any other questions
