Hello,

**Problem**
I have tree accounts on my Umbrel OS 2.0 NAS (same IP).

User 1: scanner
User 2: umbrel
User 3: max

Now, I try on macOS to connect my SMB shares from every account. But it does not work, because macOS Finde safed the password from the first account for ever new connection. But every account has an own user and password.

smb://nas-scanner.home.umbrel.de/
smb://nas-max.home.umbrel.de/
smb://nas-umbrel.home.umbrel.de/

This way works fine under Ubuntu 26.10. That is also the reason for the three domains, who is mapping to the same IP-address.

**Question**

What is the workaround/solution for my problem on macOS?

hey, this sounds like Finder reusing the first SMB login rather than asking for each account’s credentials. There’s a workaround worth trying: include the username followed by `:*` in each address to force a password prompt.

Eject the existing Umbrel shares first, then use Finder → Go → Connect to Server (Cmd+K) with these addresses, one at a time:

```plaintext
smb://scanner:*@nas-scanner.home.umbrel.de/
smb://max:*@nas-max.home.umbrel.de/
smb://umbrel:*@nas-umbrel.home.umbrel.de/
```

Leave the `*` as-is, don’t replace it with your password. Enter the matching account’s password when prompted and select its share.

Others have reported this working on macOS 15.1.1: [https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/477208/establish-two-connections-to-a-server-in-finder-macos-15](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/477208/establish-two-connections-to-a-server-in-finder-macos-15)

One caveat: this is for connecting to different shares with different accounts, not mounting the same share twice under different usernames.
