# I want to share my umbrel server with certain people. How?

Lets say I have my own domain, and I want to share my umbrel server with certain people, and certain application access.

For example, I get married and have 2 kids. How do I grant the spouse and kids access to those apps? So they can add stuff to a shopping list, calendar etc… Media server, what ever the applications are used in a house hold.

For family sharing, I’d go with Tailscale + the user accounts in umbrelOS 2.0. Tailscale lets them connect from outside your home without exposing your server to the public internet, so you wouldn’t need a custom domain or port forwarding.

Install Tailscale on your Umbrel and their devices, then share access with them. Use separate umbrelOS accounts rather than sharing your admin login.

One thing to keep in mind: apps can have their own accounts and sharing settings too. For things like a shared calendar or shopping list, you’d set up the family sharing inside the app itself.
