Hello, I want to install a new node and would like to verify the image of umbrel but can’t find on the website, neither on github.

Also is it possible to sync the blockchain without tor? I remember it took forever to sync with tor on the other node..

Still here in 2026 asking how to verify the .iso

This should be basic and easily explained even for beginners. No one should have to verify transactions with an unverified node.

Please add .sigs, GPG keys and sha256 of the .iso

looks like checksums are being published now. The latest umbrelOS release page includes both the ISO and a `SHA256SUMS` file:

> **[Release umbrelOS 1.7.4 · getumbrel/umbrel](https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel/releases/tag/1.7.4)**
>
> umbrelOS 1.7.4 fixes an issue where remote access over Tor and apps that use Tor could fail to connect.

Download both files, then hash the ISO:

Linux:

```auto
sha256sum umbrelos-amd64-usb-installer.iso
```

macOS:

```auto
shasum -a 256 umbrelos-amd64-usb-installer.iso
```

Windows PowerShell:

```auto
Get-FileHash .\umbrelos-amd64-usb-installer.iso -Algorithm SHA256
```

Compare the result with the `umbrelos-amd64-usb-installer.iso` line in `SHA256SUMS`. For the current 1.7.4 release, it should be:

```auto
d30f4e495630b79e946cb6e98cc0f0404a72f69291df5debd7e8908bf106ac40
```

SHA256 is fine for this, so there’s no need for a separate SHA512 hash.
