I still don’t understand. Are you saying that 1.0 is not going to be working now and that we need to go back to 0.5.4?

Hey guys sorry again for the issues. We’ve detected the cause, we’re working on a solution right now and will publish new Pi images when it’s ready. Your data is totally safe, it’s not gone it’s just an issue with the Pi 4 sometimes not being able to detect the USB storage device.

Apologies again for the issue and please hang tight, I’ll respond back here once the new images are ready.

I’m re-downloading bitcoin core blockchain ‘starting over’ I am using 1.0. I just formated my SD and SSD. I have included some logs that I pulled before the format. I hope they can help others so they don’t have to do what I’m doing. Now I’m just hoping my backup of my lightning channels works after I wait another three days for the ‘bitcoin core’ blockchain to download.

I just completed my upgrade to 1.0 on a RPi4, worked perfectly. I had a few apps that hung upon starting, but uninstalling and reinstalling solved the problem. The image is solid and following the instructions worked great. Thanks Umbrel!

Hey guys we have a fix. We’re just giving it extensive testing, it’s a tricky one to test because it’s only affecting a small subset of users, and of those users it’s only affecting them randomly on certain boots.

We expect to have everything tested within the next 24 hours and will roll it out to everyone soon. Apologies again for the issue, we’ll write up a full post-mortem explaining what went wrong.

I waited 16 hours. Nothing. Shut down Umbrel. Disconnected power from the Rasp. Started it back up. It made me create a new account. No option to login into my old account. Not recognizing my external HD. Asking to reinstall Bitcoin Core.

I’m a UX designer, and I can say without any hesitation, that expecting your users to use command line bandaids to fix errors in for an upgrade is a just terrible user experience.

I feel the same as you. Wait for this version and wait for me to install it. It looks good, but it doesn’t work correctly. I’m stuck with the BTC node working properly, which doesn’t sync. I have funds there and on LN channels. I await versions that correct the errors. I refuse to change the hardware but I’m seeing consistent improvements. 8-(

Good. I wasted hours following and refollowing (reflashing) your instructions for existing Pi4 users. Still says my OS is 0.54. All my apps are gone. Nothing works. I expect better from Umbrel. … so I’m down until you fix you OS image… ugh.

It was the same on my rapsi 5. I installed umbrel 1.0. Then created an account and installed the update 1.0.0.
After restarting I had to create a new account again and it works fine.
Sync in Bitcoin Node 90% in 30 hours around.

I think that most people don’t have problems because they don’t write here. Why should they when it’s up and running. Very few people get in touch.
It’s the same everywhere. If there’s something to complain about, it’s done and if not, nothing is said because it’s good. ☺

A little patience and what I have learned is that there are always teething problems, especially with new software and hardware. Some people have problems, others don’t.

That shouldn’t diminish confidence.
This isn’t Windows, where it doesn’t matter if you have problems as a user. 😜

Is there a possibility to update Umbrel Home via SSH? The UI update process is stuck at “Starting Update…”.

(So were previous app updates which I only could finish via SSH and “sudo ~/umbrel/scripts/app update $app”)

Yes, it´s possible:

> Hi @denny @austin @hasii2024 yes we can also do the update manually via terminal. Please see the steps below: Open a terminal window on your computer. On macOS, you can open the Terminal app that’s installed by default on every Mac. On Windows, you can open Command Prompt or the PowerShell app. Type in the following command ssh -t umbrel@umbrel.local and press the Enter key Run sudo mender install https://download.umbrel.com/release/1.0.0/umbrelos-amd64.update && sudo reboot
