# How to fix bitcoin.conf getting overriden

currently in ‘~/umbrel/app-data/bitcoin/data/bitcoin‘ directory trying to modify some attributes in bitcoin.conf but it keeps getting overriden when i restart the node. is there an original bitcoin.conf file or hidden file that i have to use in order for these changes to stick?

Make changes in the UmbrelOS UI.

Click on the Bitcoin Node ICON and select Settings at the bottom:

If it is not on one of the panels, on the Advanced Panel, you can put in your custom entry like you would in bitcoin.conf file.
