Hello there,

First off; a big thanks for making Umbrel! It makes it possible for me to easily set up a node and run it to do my tiny bit for Bitcoin.

Secondly, I ran in to an issue which I can’t seem to resolve myself.

Device: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.4
Connection: Ethernet
Drive type: SSD
Fixed IP address configured in the node.

When V 0.3.11 was introduced, I was prompted on the dashboard to install it. I clicked to update, and it seemed to update just fine, but the update prompt was still visible on the dashboard. So I clicked it again, and the update process started again. , but the version number was V 0.3.10(!?) This time, a new message appeared on the settings page of the dashboard: “Last backup failed _date+time_”.

So, I set out to update my node manually. I used your FAQ instructions and followed it to the letter (changing the version number to v0.3.12). It asked me for my PW I hit enter, and it started making a clone. After that I got a lot of failures and the update failed. Check it out below what happened 👇

> umbrel@umbrel:~/umbrel $ cd ~/umbrel && sudo rm -f statuses/update-in-progress && sudo ./scripts/update/update --repo getumbrel/umbrel#v0.3.12
> [sudo] password for umbrel:
> Cloning into ‘/tmp/umbrel-update’…
> fatal: unable to access ‘[GitHub - getumbrel/umbrel: A beautiful home server OS for self-hosting with an app store. Buy a pre-built Umbrel Home with umbrelOS, or install on a Raspberry Pi 4, any Ubuntu/Debian system, or a VPS.](https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel.git/)’: Could not resolve host: [github.com](http://github.com)
> fatal: not a git repository: ‘/tmp/umbrel-update//.git’
> mv: cannot stat ‘/tmp/umbrel-update//info.json’: No such file or directory
> jq: error: Could not open file /tmp/umbrel-update//info.json.orig: No such file or directory
> Update path doesn’t seem to be an Umbrel install.

I have no idea what went wrong or how to fix it. Any input / help is greatly welcomed!

Thanks in advance,

Mooky

Hi there @aarondewes, thank you for your reply! Yes. I have done that exact same thing. Sorry, I forgot to mention this. 😓 But the issue persists.

This won’t format my SSD or will make me lose blockchain data, right? Because my node is 100% synced.

@aarondewes I shut down the node before I turned off the power of my Pi. Removed the SD card, reflashed de SD card with Umbrel 0.3.12. Put the SD card back in the Pi and powered on the Pi again. The Upgrade was successful. Everything under settings appears to be normal as well. 👍

Now all I need to do is configure my node with a static IP address again.

Thanks for the help 👌 Much appreciated!
