# Error: unable to recover channel backup, unable to unpack chan backup

When attempting to recover my channels, I see the various backups, but when I select one, after about 20 secs, I get a red error box in the bottom right corner that says:

“Unable to recover channel backup, unable to unpack chan backup: could not derive private key for legacy channel revocation root format: unable to derive private key.”

Despite this message, I did have some channels start to force close. However, of my 80+ channels only about 26 started closing. I’m concerned that the error resulted in only partially recovering my channels.

Am I able to get a backup file directly from Umbrel? I’ve tried support on the umbrel website but haven’t received a response.
