# Error recovering lightning channels

Hi there,

I tried to recover my channel via the back up file “my-umbrel-channels.backup”, and got this error: “Unable to recover channel backup, unable to unpack chan backup: chacha20poly1305: message authentication failed.”

I’m running the latest version of Umbrel.

Any ideas what to do?
