# Annoyed and Want to Change CORE RTL Alias

I wasn’t a fan of the default name for my lightning node as assigned by [CORE RTL](https://apps.umbrel.com/app/core-lightning). Here’s how to change it.

#### Create a config File to Set the Alias

- Stop CORE RTL Server
- SSH into your umbrel
- Since no plain-text config was found, create one:

Execute the following two commands:

`touch /home/umbrel/umbrel/app-data/core-lightning/data/lightningd/config nano /home/umbrel/umbrel/app-data/core-lightning/data/lightningd/config`

- Add: `alias=MyCoolNodeNameThatDoesntSuck`

Save and exit (Ctrl+O, Enter, Ctrl+X).

#### Restart Core RTL
