# After fresh install no disk space

Hi I installed umbrell via iso on a VM. The VM has 40gb but still Umbrel shows Low storage in Live Usage. It shows that it only has 125MB there. How can I assign more space for it?

I’m having this issue as well. I’ve tried different drives with no luck. There just doesn’t seem to be any support for this.

I am having the exact issue in a VM from Synology (Virtual Machine Manager / QEMU), every time I install UmbrelOS on it. You can fix it by booting into Gparted and manually expanding the partition.
When I use UTM on my Mac, there is no issue. So it might be a compatibility issue with certain drivers for virtual storage. Which software are you using for the VM?

I found a reason for this behavior. The main drive was a virtIO drive when I used it as a ide or sata drive it worked right away.
